Project Overview

BeenAround is a travel-focused social mobile app concept designed to transform personal journeys into a connected, searchable record of experiences. Instead of leaving travel memories scattered across photo galleries, social feeds, and messaging threads, the platform brings destinations, photographs, reviews, and connections together in one digital space.
Travelers can document places they have visited, discover destinations through people they follow, and build a personal travel passport that evolves with every journey. The product vision combines the emotional appeal of travel storytelling with the practical value of location-based discovery.

Discover

Explore destinations through real experiences.

Document

Save photos, ratings, and memories.

Connect

Discover places through trusted travelers.

The Business Challenge

Travelers frequently rely on fragmented tools to plan trips, share photographs, remember favorite destinations, and request recommendations. Traditional social networks prioritize general content, while travel platforms often emphasize anonymous reviews rather than trusted personal connections. This creates an opportunity for an experience centered on people, places, and authentic travel history.
BeenAround addresses that gap by organizing user-generated content around countries and cities, making travel experiences easier to revisit and more relevant to explore. The challenge is to make rich location-based interactions feel intuitive while supporting community engagement, privacy, content moderation, and future platform growth.

The opportunity

Create one connected experience where every photo, review, destination, and relationship contributes to a meaningful travel history.

Our Solution

The proposed solution is a cross-platform mobile experience built around five connected journeys: Home, Explore, Ratings and Reviews, Passport, and User Profile. Each journey serves a distinct purpose while reinforcing the others. Users can follow travelers, engage with their recent activity, browse destinations, rate experiences, and curate a visual record of visited places.
Supporting workflows include account creation, photo tagging, messaging, notifications, and privacy controls. An administrative workspace provides oversight of users, community content, and platform activity. Together, these capabilities establish a foundation for a travel community that values both discovery and personal expression.

A Social Home for Travel Stories

02

Destination Discovery Through Explore

Explore makes geographic discovery the center of the experience. Travelers can search directly for a country or city or navigate visually through an interactive map. After selecting a destination, they can explore a list of followed users who have visited, complete with profile thumbnails, names, star ratings, and vacation-photo previews.
Rather than presenting destinations as isolated search results, the interface connects each place to recognizable people and firsthand experiences. This approach supports more personal travel inspiration and helps users identify locations worth investigating further.
03

Reviews, Photos, and the Digital Passport

The Ratings and Reviews experience allows users to search for a city or country, assign an interactive one-to-five-star rating, and associate photographs with that location. The Passport organizes those contributions into a personal archive.

Users can filter reviews by country and sort them by recency or rating, then browse photos associated with their selected destinations. By linking reviews and visual memories, BeenAround creates a coherent record of travel that remains useful long after a trip ends. The Passport also encourages repeat engagement as users continue adding places to their history.

04

Profiles Built Around Exploration

Each user profile tells a story through travel milestones rather than a conventional biography alone. A profile photo and name introduce the traveler, while highlights summarize continents, countries, and cities visited. Top destinations showcase highly rated experiences, and a wishlist captures places the user hopes to see next. Direct navigation to the Passport connects those summary metrics with deeper personal memories.
Onboarding supports email, social-account, or phone-based registration; prompts for Instagram linking; photo uploads and location tagging; ratings; and optional contact invitations. Messaging and configurable account, privacy, and notification settings round out the experience.
